DR.A.S.SENTHILVELU is a consultant physician and diabetologist at Maaruthi Medical Centre and Hospitals. He is the founder and president of Erode Diabetes Foundation. He graduated from Kilpauk Medical College Chennai in the year 1989. He completed his MD in 1998 from Madras Medical College. He underwent training in diabetes and critical care in 1999. He started Erode Diabetes Foundation in the year 2001. To educate the general public about diabetes care and prevention of its complication. He conducts monthly patient education programs about a balanced diet and other related problems of diabetes in Maaruthi Medical Centre and Hospitals. His vision is to detect diabetes early and prevent complications in our region. His fields of interest are diabetes, coronary artery heart disease, prevention of heart diseases, diabetes and obesity.

- He is the regional faculty for Certificate Course in Evidence-Based Diabetes Management training for doctors in association with PHFI and Dr. Mohan’s academy since 2010 to till now.
- He has written two books in Tamil about Diabetes and its complications, and another book about Diet and lifestyle modification.
